David Wirdnam B.A. (Hons), L.R.S.M.

David Wirdnam began playing the flute at the age of 11. Having achieved a distinction in grade 8 at the age of 16 he joined H.M. Forces as a musician with the Staff Band of the Royal Corps of Transport. During his 15 years as principal flautist of the R.C.T. Staff Band, he toured many countries around the world including a State visit to Jordan with Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth 2. Other duties included radio broadcasts, C.D. recordings and concerts.

David Wirdnam graduated from Sheffield University in 1998 with a B.A. (Hons) 2.1 in music as well as the Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music diploma. Since leaving Berkshire Maestros in the summer of 2008, having taught as a specialist flute teacher for 9 years, David now teaches flute privately from his home in the centre of Newbury.
